I hope your jolt back to reality was as good as it can be, and that your email inbox wasn’t frighteningly overloaded after the holidays. May you still be going strong with your New Year’s resolutions, and staying warm with all this crazy cold weather (that everywhere but California seems to be getting — come on, Tahoe, I want to go snowboarding next weekend!). Are your smoothies and salads tasting as delicious as you promised yourself they would? Because mine sure don’t. I’m still craving a bacon breakfast burrito… but twice in a week is probably overdoing it.
To mark the beginning of a new month (and, hey, a new year!), I thought one of those ever-so-useful ‘Currently’ posts would give a nice snapshot of life in the now.
… to take my blog and business seriously. Guys, there’s a real shift in the wind, and it’s so exciting. I’m starting to create a thorough business plan and lay groundwork for upcoming projects — there’s been a transition from “wanting” to “making it happen” (and I promise it was well before the New Year). Like I mentioned in Highlights from 2017 to Ring in 2018, I feel like all my ideas are scattered and not fully developed. As I give them my full attention so they can develop into tangible, results-driven ideas… then wow, how about that to kick start 2018?
… for oh so much this year. There’s a special kind of hopeful feeling that comes along at the beginning of each year — even if it is technically “just another day,” it marks an opportunity for a fresh start. Because let’s be honest, we typically look back on years as numbers, right? Like I can truthfully say, “2017 was better than 2016, and 2016 was better than 2015.” This is the first time I’ve approached a new year with such certainty of its prospects and the growth that will come of it, and I dearly hope to keep the momentum going.
… the next few weeks of January. I’ve put myself on a spending freeze after the holidays and our household is back to healthy meal planning. I’m committed to launching a free ecourse next month, and as a whole, I’m determined to stick with my 90-day plan (which I printed from Classy Career Girl and absolutely LOVE). I’m getting ready for my cousin to visit next week (!!), where she’s going to get the full Northern California experience with South Lake Tahoe, San Francisco, and wine country. My sister’s birthday, Jake’s birthday, and planning our Oregon road trip!
… The Girl From The Train by Irma Joubert, although it’s taken me about 2 weeks to read the first chapter. I’m also listening to Secrets of the Millionaire Mind by T. Harv Eker on Audible, and I genuinely can’t stress the impact and mind-blowing realities of this book — no wonder my dad’s been trying to get me to read it for 2 years! Next on my reading list is Paper Towns by John Green, then I’m not quite sure. Any suggestions?
