Thanks to Mattie of Mattie’s Makings, I’ve been tagged for these 21 questions! I love reading these sorts of posts by bloggers and it’s a great way to get to know one another. So here goes…
Are you named after anyone?
Yes, I’m in fact “Little Lexi,” named after “Big Lexi,” who is the daughter of my mom’s best friend. My full name was determined after the nickname was chosen. Any guesses of what my full name is?
When was the last time you cried?
My mom sent me a text checking in because they hadn’t heard from me recently. Well, I’ve been a super nice girlfriend who has been letting her boyfriend borrow her car for work this past week, and my alone time in the car is usually when I call my family. So, I haven’t had the opportunity to call lately–not to mention, I’ve been working like crazy and simply don’t have an extra moment to spare. Anyway, after I received this text I immediately called my mom and started gushing about this and that. I finally broke down and started crying about how I’m so homesick and I can’t wait to see them this weekend. Crazy how conversations with Mom have that effect on us, no matter how old we get.
Do you have kids?
Does my dog count? No? Okay, then the answer is no but please ask again in five years. If you ask me what I’m most excited about in life (aka, making this a 22-questionnaire), the answer is reading the Harry Potter series outloud to my children. I’ve already made Jake agree that if the children confess to him they don’t like Harry Potter, he will tell them to buck up and pretend they like it anyway because it makes their mother happy.
If you were another person, would you be a friend of yourself?
I hope so? I think so. Yes, final answer is yes.
Do you use sarcasm a lot?
To the point of being in the sarcasm danger zone.
Except I do try to avoid it in text messages and I am careful about using it with social media. Too many mistakes have been made because apparently I don’t know how to convey sarcasm through quick written messages.
Will you ever bungee-jump?
I wouldn’t pass up the opportunity, but I would try to convince you to skydive with me instead. I feel like bungee-jumping is just asking for whiplash.
What’s your favorite cereal?
I wish I loved cereal as much as some people (ahem, Mattie). If I’m going to eat it, I prefer Special K or Cheerios. I consider them classics, don’t you think? But seriously, I’d so much rather have a breakfast burrito. I have a very real obsession with Santiago’s breakfast burritos and I haven’t found their equal here in Sacramento. No, not even you, Oskars.
What’s the first thing you notice about people?
I observe how they put themselves together. I don’t mean that in a judgy good or bad way, just kind of an… is? way. I wish I was observant enough to say “eyes” or “fashion sense” or “smile.” Nope, I’m an overall picture kind of gal.
What is your eye color?
They’re hazel green. Why does everybody think they’re blue?
Scary movie or happy endings?
Happy endings! But not when the movie just, you know, ends–I’m still fuming over how The Intern finished after watching it a few nights ago. Please don’t get me started, I’ve already wasted half a morning looking up the movie’s reviews to see who else was upset. (Psst… a lot of people are)
I’m going to be uber cheesy and say my boyfriend’s cologne. I’m talking about his signature cologne that he’s had since we met, not one of the five new trial sizes he got from Sephora for Christmas (it’s actually a cool concept: you try the five and come back with which you want and get the full-size bottle). I also love the smell of horses because it brings me back to my childhood and the days of growing up on the ranch with my beloved horses.
Summer or winter?
People think I’m crazy when I say I love winter so much. Not the pansy California coast weather, I mean the snowy and cold winters we get in Colorado. I could go on and on, but I’ve already done that on 10 Things to Love About Winter and this post.
Computer or television?
You should have seen how hysterical I became when
I spilled a full glass of water water accidentally got on my computer and it stopped working. TVs are nice, but I can watch it all on my computer, I do all my work from my computer, and I have all important files saved on my computer. Bottom line: I need my computer.
What’s the furthest you’ve ever been from home?
Although I’ve probably traveled to geographically further places (sorry, I’m way too lazy to actually look all this up on a map but I’d imagine Santorini is technically the answer to this question), I never felt such cultural and emotional distance as I did at times while living in Chile.
Do you have any special talents?
I can belch like nobody’s bizznass. You laugh, but it’s true. I am also double jointed and can bring my arms up and over my head by dislocating my shoulder. So basically, if I was ever handcuffed I could escape. Although the handcuffs would still be around my wrists, just in the front… so I don’t really know how that would eventually work. You get the idea though.
Where were you born?
I really don’t think we know each other enough for me to tell you this deep dark secret. It would blow my cover of being a Colorado native. Bah! I’ve already said too much.
What are your hobbies?
Being outdoors with my dog, snowboarding, writing and blogging (duh), listening to the Harry Potter series on audiobook (don’t laugh, it’s awesome), cheering on the Broncos (GO BRONCOS!), exploring new cities, and convincing myself that I can afford eating out at sushi restaurants.
Do you have any pets?
Yes, his name is Jake and he is (mostly) potty-trained, doesn’t listen to a word I say, and makes a mess when he eats. Just kidding… The real pup is Ollie the Dog and you can learn all about him here.
The Princess Bride! And I will tell you why. When I was a little girl and I couldn’t sleep, I would come downstairs and curl up on the recliner with my dad, who would be watching that movie late at night. I swear, seems like that movie was/is always on TV. Over the years, it’s always stayed my favorite movie–my dad gave me the DVD for a present and it was a source of comfort when I was particularly homesick living abroad. He still lets me know whenever it’s on TV. You don’t want to watch this movie with me, I will quote the entire thing. Oh, and when I was supposed to officiate my cousin’s wedding, I had every intention of saying this:
(She decided I’ll make a better maid of honor for some reason. Bwhaha watch out for that speech!)
Do you have any siblings?
Yes! I have a younger sister who I am ridiculously proud of. She is about to showcase her much anticipated senior recital this weekend, so you will find me reunited with my family in Oklahoma City. The Little One (my longtime nickname for her) is my best friend, although it took until I moved out of the house for college for us to actually begin liking one another. Just ask my parents how they feel about that.
What do you want to be when you grow up?
This is the same answer I’ve had since I can remember: a best-selling author in fiction. Writing is and has always been my passion–I was dictating stories to my babysitter before I could write, for goodness sake. I love my marketing career and this experience is invaluable, yet there will come a day when I have my own family and spending time with them will win over these sixty hour weeks. Crazy, I know.
Alright, there you have it! Now that you know me a little better, time for me to tag three bloggers to answer these questions.
Tag, you’re it, Emma and JW!
